Meet Ms. Shay Smith, our amazing Tumbling, Hip Hop and HS Dance Teacher. Shay started dance and gymnastics at a very young age and bounced back and forth between the two as she absolutely loved both! She danced for SAS dance studio and was a gymnast with Arizona Olympians until high school where she danced with both Perry and Basha High School. She then found her love for teaching when she started working for Little Devil’s Gymnastics’ recreation program in 2012. From there, she turned her coaching over to a local gym where she trained advanced gymnasts both in competitive and recreational environments and now of course with 8 Count Dance! Shay loves teaching tumbling for many reasons but the progression in her students is so evident when they put in the hard work in her classes and that means the world to her. She stays super busy with being a licensed cosmetologist, working in finance for a large dealership, and studying hard to get her college degree. She has been working on getting her Bachelors in Business Administration from NAU and is set to graduate with honors in spring of 17 where she will go on to achieve her Master’s Degree. Regardless of where her career may take her, she will always spread her love and knowledge for dance and tumbling for as long as possible!Meet Ms. Shay!
