Queen Creek Parks & Recreation

21802 S. Ellsworth Road

Class Fee and Supply Fee are paid to 8*Count Dance.

2020 Fall Registration is Open!

In-person classes may be delayed.. but beginning Monday, August 17 we’re offering ZOOM classes!!

Unfortunately, we’re unable to hold classes at the QC Rec Center or Las Sendas Community until we get the green light from the AZ Health Dept.  We so desperately want to get back into the dance room and we understand the importance of in-person learning, but we must abide by the rules.

We know you miss dance just as much as we do, and thanks to your feedback we’ve made the decision to offer ZOOM classes beginning this Monday, August 17 thru Thursday, September 10!

When we reopen in-person (we’ll know more details the 1st week of September): Class sizes will not exceed 9 students.  If our favorite class is full, please add your student to the waitlist for 2 reasons:  If enough students are on a waitlist, we will open another class.  Also, we will open up the class to more students as we are permitted by CDC guidelines.

Face masks will not be mandatory in class. Students are welcome to wear a face mask, if you choose, but please be aware that a face mask will make it harder to breathe during exercise and dancers should self-monitor for symptoms of: lightheadedness, dizziness, numbness or tingling, and shortness of breath. If your student is feeling sick, has a fever or is experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, please keep them home. Students are always welcome to makeup a missed class with other classes offered by 8*Count Dance.  Disinfecting of the rooms will be done between classes, please allow our teachers time to do so.  Parents are discouraged from sitting in the hallways in groups. Students will be given hand sanitizer as they enter and leave class.

Please CLICK HERE for the updated Waiver and Release Form, required by the Town of Queen Creek.  Please print, complete and return on the first day of class.

We miss you all!

ZOOM Classes

Twinkle Star Classes

Age specific classes containing ballet, tap and jazz/creative movement. The purpose of these classes is to introduce young dancers to the three styles of dance and inspire movement and creativity within a positive environment. Dancers will also learn basic steps and terminology in all three styles. For example, all dancers will learn what a “plié” is and how to demonstrate one. The use of fun, age appropriate music engages the young dancers’ minds and bodies. The use of props such as hula-hoops for the “freeze dance” makes the end of class the most fun! Tap & Ballet Shoes and taking both sessions is recommended. We will end Fall Session B with our Holiday Performance & Picnic. We will end our Spring Session B with our Spring Recital.

Tap Classes

Tap is always a fun, high-energy class! We have a class for every level. Students learn basic to intermediate rhythmic Tap steps. All levels of dance are welcome. Tap Shoes are recommended. We will end Fall Session B with our Holiday Performance & Picnic. We will end our Spring Session B with our Spring Recital. Participation in our Holiday Performance n’ Picnic or Spring Recital in Session B is optional for Adult Tap.

Ballet Classes

Ballet for every level! Please place your student by age before level. If student needs to move down or up in level, teacher will let you know. Time in class will be spent learning ballet terms and technique. Leotard, tights & ballet shoes & taking both sessions is recommended. We will end Fall Session B with our Holiday Performance & Picnic. We will end our Spring Session B with our Spring Recital.

Jazz & Jazz/Lyrical Classes

Time in class will be spent learning jazz or jazz/lyrical terms and technique. Jazz/Lyrical dance is a style that blends ballet and jazz dance. Lyrical dance challenges choreographers and dancers to use motion to interpret music and express emotion. A lyrical dancer’s movements attempt to show the meaning of the music. Leotard, tights, along with taking both sessions are recommended (not required). We will end Session B with our 5th annual Holiday Performance n’ Picnic on Dec. 12!

Acrobatic Arts Classes

Students will learn the basics and continue to build on skills as they advance, focusing on balance, developing limber bodies, building strength and improving tumbling skills. Boys and girls welcome. Wear clothes that will not restrict movement and pull back long hair. Please bring a water bottle. Please place your student by age, if student needs to move down or up in level, teacher will let you. Students are encouraged (not required) to take two classes for ages 4-7 and three classes for ages 8 yrs and up per week. Please contact us to register in order to receive class discount.

DEBUT/RUBY DANCE COMPANY

This class is for the student who is serious about dance. This class is not for the student with no experience in dance. Students will improve dance technique and strength. Styles of dances will be taught is Jazz & Tap. This is a year program, running August 2020-May 2021. Students will be required to take a ballet, jazz/lyrical and an acrobatic arts class to be in company. Class fee includes Ballet & Tumbling. Students will be a part of Holiday Performance N’ Picnic in December, Dance Competitions, our Spring Recital in May & various events throughout the valley.
