Sapphire Stars Classes

Age specific classes containing ballet, tap and jazz/creative movement. The purpose of these classes is to introduce young dancers to the three styles of dance and inspire movement and creativity within a positive environment. Dancers will also learn basic steps and terminology in all three styles. For example, all dancers will learn what a “plié” is and how to demonstrate one. The use of fun, age appropriate music engages the young dancers’ minds and bodies. The use of props such as hula-hoops for the “freeze dance” makes the end of class the most fun! Tap & Ballet Shoes and taking both sessions is recommended.

Tap Classes

Tap is always a fun, high-energy class! We have a class for every level. Students learn basic to intermediate rhythmic Tap steps. All levels of dance are welcome. Tap Shoes are recommended.

Ballet Classes

Ballet for every level! Please place your student by age before level. If student needs to move down or up in level, teacher will let you know. Time in class will be spent learning ballet terms and technique. Leotard, tights, ballet shoes and hair in a bun is required for class.

Jazz & Jazz/Lyrical Classes

Time in class will be spent learning jazz or jazz/lyrical terms and technique. Jazz/Lyrical dance is a style that blends ballet and jazz dance. Lyrical dance challenges choreographers and dancers to use motion to interpret music and express emotion. A lyrical dancer’s movements attempt to show the meaning of the music.

Acrobatic Arts Classes

Students will learn the basics and continue to build on skills as they advance, focusing on balance, developing limber bodies, building strength and improving tumbling skills. Boys and girls welcome. Wear clothes that will not restrict movement and pull back long hair. Please bring a water bottle. Please place your student by age, if student needs to move down or up in level, teacher will let you. Students are encouraged (not required) to take two classes for ages 4-7 and three classes for ages 8 yrs and up per week.
