2018 Fall Classes

2018 Fall Class Descriptions

(Listed alphabetically)

Acrobatics Arts (ages 4-5, 6-7, 8-10, 11-15): Students will learn the basic and continue to build on skills as they advance, focusing on balance, developing limber bodies, building strength and improving tumbling skills. Boys and girls welcome. Wear clothes that will not restrict movement and pull back long hair. Please bring a water bottle. Please place your student by age, if student needs to move down or up in level, teacher will let you. Students are encouraged (not required) to take two classes for ages 4-7 and three classes for ages 8 yrs and up per week. Please register in person to receive class discount.

Adult Ballet (ages 17+): Students learn basic to intermediate of ballet technique and a great work out! All Levels of dance are welcome. Ballet Shoes are recommended.

Adult Tap (ages 17+): In this fun, high-energy class, students learn basic to intermediate of rhythmic Tap steps and a great work out! All levels of dance are welcome. Tap Shoes are recommended. Participation in our Holiday Performance N’ Picnic on December 8th in Session B is optional.

Ballet-Level 1 (ages 5-8): This class is for the student with a year or less of ballet. Please place your student by age before level. If student needs to move up, teacher will let you know. Time in class will be spent learning ballet terms and technique. Leotard, tights & Ballet shoes and taking both sessions is recommended. In Session B, we will end with a Holiday Performance n’ Picnic on December 8th.

Ballet-Level 2 (ages 8-11): This class is for the student with two to three years of ballet. Please place your student by age before level. If student needs to move down or up in level, teacher will let you know. Time in class will be spent learning ballet terms and technique. Leotard, tights & Ballet shoes and taking both sessions is recommended. In Session B, we will end with a Holiday Performance n’ Picnic on December 8th.

Ballet-Level 3 (ages 12-17): This class is for the student with three or more years of ballet. Please place your student by age before level. If student needs to move down or up in level, teacher will let you know. Time in class will be spent learning ballet terms and technique. Leotard, tights & Ballet shoes and taking both sessions is recommended. In Session B, we will end with a Holiday Performance n’ Picnic on December 8th.

Cheer/Acro (ages 6-12): In this fun, high-energy class, students learn cheerleading basic such as arm movements, jumps, cheers, stunts AND tumbling. Supply fee covers, bow and briefs. Uniforms are OPTIONAL to purchase for $70. Uniforms are provided for students. Class will perform at varies Events in Queen Creek, Holiday Performance N’ Picnic on December 8 & possibly a High School Basketball half time game. Tennis shoes are recommended with hair pulled back in high ponytail and wear clothes that don’t restrict movement. Don’t forget a water bottle too!!! Class runs 12 weeks long.

Clogging (ages 7-13):  Students learn basic to intermediate of clogging technique and a great work out! All Levels of clogging is welcome. Clogging Shoes are recommended.

DEBUT Ruby Dance Company (ages 5-8): This class is for the little dancer who is serious about dance. This class is for the student with no less then one year of dance experience. Students will improve dance technique and strength. Styles of dances will be taught is Jazz & Tap. This is a year program, running Sept 2018-May 2019, once a week. Students are recommended to take (not required) a ballet & acro class. Please register in person if student adds ballet and/or acro to their schedule for class discount. Students will be a part of Holiday Performance N’ Picnic on December 8, Dance Competition in the spring of 2019, May 2019 Recital & various event throughout the valley.

ShowStars-Hip Hop (ages 7-12): In this fun, high-energy class, students learn basic to intermediate hip hop dance moves. Tennis Shoes and taking both sessions is recommended. In Session B, students participate in Holiday Performance N’ Picnic on December 8th.

ShowStars-Tap/Jazz (ages 5-8): This class is perfect for the dancer who has taken at least year or more of consistent dance. Students continue to master Al Gilbert Grade 2 tap and jazz programs. Tap and Jazz shoes and taking both sessions is recommended. In Session B, students participate in Holiday Performance N’ Picnic on December 8th.

Twinkle Babies (ages 2-3): A thirty-minute introductory dance class containing ballet, tap and creative movement. Young dancers will learn the basic steps while learning how to follow direction and imitate movement in a positive environment. Engaging music is used to get these little guys inspired to dance. The use of props such as Twinkle bears and hula-hoops enables the young dancers to use their imagination, creativity and, most of all, have fun! Tap & Ballet Shoes and taking both sessions is recommended. In Session B, we will end with a Holiday Performance n’ Picnic on December 8th.

Twinkle Stars (ages 4-5) & Preschool Twinkle Stars (ages 3-4): An age specific 45-minute class containing ballet, tap and jazz/creative movement. The purpose of the class is to introduce young dancers to the three styles of dance and inspire movement and creativity within a positive environment. Dancers will also learn basic steps and terminology in all three styles. For example, all dancers will learn what a “plié” is and how to demonstrate one. The use of fun, age appropriate music engages the young dancers’ minds and bodies. The use of props such as hula-hoops for the “freeze dance” makes the end of class the most fun! Tap & Ballet Shoes and taking both sessions is recommended. In Session B, we will end with a Holiday Performance n’ Picnic on December 8th.

Ruby Dance Company (ages 7-11 & 12-17): This class is for the student who is serious about dance. This class is not for the student with no experience in dance. Students will improve dance technique and strength. Styles of dances will be taught is Jazz & Tap. This is a year program, running Sept 2018-May 2019, once a week. Students will be required to take a ballet & tumbling class to be in company. Class fee includes Ballet & Tumbling. Students will be a part of Holiday Performance N’ Picnic on December 8, Disney in April 2019, Dance Competition in the Fall of 2018, Spring of 2019, May 2019 Recital & various event throughout the valley. TRY-OUT Required for placement of level. Note, students will be switched around due to levels in dance and register in person to sign up for ballet & acro class.

Policies & Procedures – Fall 2018

Tuition: CLASS FEE is due to THE TOWN OF QUEEN CREEK by the 1st class. SUPPLY FEE is due to teacher by the first day of class. Cash is preferred, or make checks payable to 8*Count Dance. You are responsible for all tuition, fees, payments, etc.

Supply/Costumes: Supply Fee per class is due on the first day of class to your teacher. Cash is preferred, or make checks payable to 8*Count Dance. This is to ensure ALL costumes are ordered in a timely manner for the Recital. If supply fee is not paid by 1st day of class, your student will be ask to sit out the 2nd week of class.

Supply Fee:           SESSION A – ALL CLASSES HAVE A SUPPLY FEE OF $5

SESSION B – ALL DANCE CLASSES – $20, ACRO CLASSES – $5

Forms of payment: Personal checks or cash is accepted, BUT CASH is preferred. If you are paying by check, please write your child’s name & class & your DL# on the check & make payable to 8* Count Dance. A $25.00 fee will be charged on all returned checks.

Refunds: NO REFUNDS

Procedure: All classes begin with a proper technical warm-up, which is crucial for the prevention of any potential injuries. Therefore, all dancers should be punctual. After an adequate warm up, the appropriate class instruction shall follow. PLEASE USE RESTROOM BEFORE CLASS.

Attire: Girls: Hair must always be pulled back into a ponytail or bun before class. NO bangs in face; please pin and hairspray them back before class. A leotard, tights and skirt or athletic shorts/ jazz pants over the leotard is recommended and preferred. Boys: Comfortable clothes that will not restrict movement. Absolutely NO JEANS allowed! Proper dance shoes must be worn at every dance class. DO NOT WEAR DANCE SHOES OUTSIDE! No shoes for Tumbling Classes.

Attendance: To keep the class progressing each week toward choreographing our recital performances, and to be fair to the other dancers, you are required to attend each & every class.

Observance: NO PARENTS ALLOWED IN ROOM. Parents are to wait in the lobby, unless otherwise invited by instructor. Only registered participates are permitted in the classroom or parents who participate in the Parent/Tot Classes. Please do not disturb classes when in session.

Food/drinks: ONLY bottled water allowed in dance/tumbling room. NO GUM or food! NO LIQUID OR STREET SHOES ALLOW ON DANCE WOOD FLOOR! ALL/ WATER BOTTLES NEED TO BE CLOSED.
