24 Hours In The Life… Spring 2024 Recital Information

DRESS REHEARSAL JUNE 5 & 6, 2024 AND RECITAL JUNE 8, 2024

This packet will have everything you will need to know for Dress Rehearsal & Recital.

Please keep it in a SAFE PLACE and READ IN FULL.

ALL TICKETS WILL BE SOLD ONLINE!  *TIP:  TO HELP CHOOSE YOUR SEATS IN THE AUDITORIUM, ASK YOUR TEACHER WHERE YOUR STUDENT WILL BE ON STAGE!

Dress Rehearsal Time: I cannot STRESS how important it is to be there AND on time to your student’s stage time.  If their stage time reads 5:00pm, that means you are there & your student is THE Black Box staging area at 5:00pm.  All students must wear their costumes to rehearsal.  The rehearsal will go on without them if you are running late.  Do not expect the teacher to hold a special rehearsal for late students. Dress rehearsal is mandatory. The schedule is very tight between the 2 days of the rehearsals and the facility is ONLY rented for a certain timeframe.  Dress rehearsal is a closed rehearsal. Dress Rehearsal for 1pm Recital is June 5thand Dress Rehearsal for 5pm Recital is June 6th. If you are in both Recitals, you will need to be at both dress rehearsals. We will be running a full recital during dress rehearsal.

The flow of “traffic” for rehearsal & recital: When coming to dress rehearsal & recital, you will enter the lobby and go to the far-left room that is labeled “Black Box”. This is where you also pick up your student from dress rehearsal & recital. Once your student is finished with rehearsal, they will be dismissed back to the Black Box, plan about hour & half. We will practice a finale for rehearsal. For recital, ONE parent will need to drop off their student where you came in for dress rehearsal AND check in at the table.  If you are not Backstage Help, you will enter the auditorium in the front. When you drop your student backstage, your student needs to be completely ready AND leave nothing backstage with them.  Unless of course they are a student that has more than one routine, that is different.  This is a very congested time & limiting ONE parent to drop off will be necessary.  All students will stay backstage during the recital.  If you want your student to sit with you, you will need to come to the Black Box and pick up your student.  All students are expected to stay to the end of each recital for the finale.  Once finale is over & curtain is closed, students will be brought back to the Black Box. DO NOT take your student off from the front of the stage once the finale has ended.  It is for their safety.

WHICH RECITAL IS MY STUDENT IN?

There are 2 recitals; the show time is circled below on which recital your student will be performing in.  Some may be in more than one show.  If your student is in multiple shows, you can help with one & watch the other.  All students will need to arrive 45 minutes before the start time of the recital.  Only Baby Gems & All Star 2-3 yrs old classes CAN arrive 20 minutes before the start of recital. Auditorium doors will open 30 minutes before the recital time. Please have your student completely ready to dance. DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING BACKSTAGE WITH YOUR STUDENT. PLEASE HAVE STUDENTS COMPLETELY READY TO PERFORM.   

SATURDAY JUNE 8, 1:00PM RECITAL – ARRIVE AT 12:15PM

SATURDAY JUNE 8, 5:00PM RECITAL – ARRIVE AT 4:15PM

What do I need to know for recital????

Cover-up: Before you leave your home put a cover up on over your student’s costume.  This serves two purposes; 1) they will not get dirty & 2) no will see their costume until they are on stage.  When you check your student in, you can then remove their cover up and take it with you. DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING BACKSTAGE OR WITH YOUR STUDENT.

Make-up: Personally, I am not a fan of a TON of HEAVY make-up for the little kids!  But if any make-up is applied, just a little color of lip-gloss & some blush… if you can get mascara on that is fine too.  Again, just enough to add some color. 

Hair: Circled below is how your student’s hair should be done for their dance. Refer to cheat sheet handed out with costume.

Tights: Tights are included with your student’s costume.  If you would like or need an additional pair, extra tights are available for purchase from 8*Count Dance for $10.

What if my student has more than one costume change???

Students (girls) with more than 1 costume change must wear a nude-colored leotard under their costume.  Boys with more than 1 costume change must wear an undershirt (preferably the under-armor fit).  If they have a pants/shorts costume change they must also wear under armor fit shorts underneath.  Who will help my student change?  You are more than welcome to help them with their costume change.  I can also assign a helper to your student to help change if you would like to enjoy the recital.  Make sure you put their name on everything & in a bag with their name on it in the order of their dances.  Also, pack the dance bag with your student, as this is helpful for them to know where everything is in the dance bag.  Students with close costume changes, please stress to them when changing into the next costume not to throw everything as they are taking off their costume, as this is how items get lost!  Please take the time to put it back in their bag or have a basket where they can put everything.  PLEASE LET ME KNOW PRIOR TO THE RECITAL, IF YOU’D LIKE A HELPER ASSIGNED TO YOUR STUDENT. 

Do you need help in front of the house and backstage???

Helpers will not be turned down. Please refer to the Sign-up Genius for where help is needed, it will be sent out in email. If you have older children that need service hours, I can put them to work.  Parents, I ask that all the classes that are age 6 & under have 1 parent helper stay backstage until they go on stage to dance.  You will need to sign in in Sign-up Genius as a parent helper. All persons who help and are signed up on Sign-up Genius will get a code for a free ticket for recital. It will be sent out by Ms. Andrea. 

**BEING A GOOD AUDIENCE MEMBER! **

Please be courteous to everyone watching the show by turning off your cellphone, only leaving the auditorium between dances and no talking when a class is on stage.  Most of the students are newbies performing on stage, ranging in age from 2yrs. old to adult and have been working hard over the past five months.  We want them to have a great experience & their family to be able to enjoy their star on stage.  Of course, when they are finished with their routine, bring on the applause & bravos!!!  

What happens when my students have had their time to shine on stage!

We will have a FINALE at the end of the recital.  Students will remain backstage until the finale.

The students have been working hard & are extremely excited to perform!  Family & Friends are welcome!  If you have any questions, ask, even if you think it is silly.
